Lil Tecca
Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe (born on
August 26, 2002), known professionally as Lil Tecca, is an American musician
and rapper. He rose to mainstream fame after the release of his 2019 single
"Ransom" that had a peak at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The
debut mixtape of his We Love You Tecca (2019) included the track. It peaked at
4 on the US Billboard 200. The mixtape also featured the two singles "Love
Me" and "Did It Again". The album he released as his debut
studio album"Virgo World" (2020) was released at #10 on the Billboard
200 and included the Billboard Hot 100-charting songs "Dolly" as well
as "When You Down". His second mixtape "We Love You Tecca
2", came out in August 2021. It featured "Repeat It" and
"Lot of Me". Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe is an Jamaican immigrants,
was born in Queens on August 26, 2002. Sharpe was raised in Springfield Gardens
a neighborhood of Queens however, he later moved to Cedarhurst in Long Island.
Sharpe was a young man with ambitions to become a basketball player, but Sharpe
shifted his focus to music when he was twelve. He graduated from Lawrence High
School. Tecca, nine years old at the time, was rapping along with his peers
using his Xbox to record. One of their diss tracks was posted to SoundCloud
several years ago, however it has since been deleted. At first, he did not have
any plans to pursue a career in music however, he had a dream of becoming an
NBA star. He started to consider music more seriously when he dropped his
interest in basketball when he was in middle school. His first track to gain
some traction, "Tectri", was created in collaboration with his
friend, Lil Gummybear, and it was released in the early part of 2017. Other
preliminary tracks of his include "Callin". Just a year later the
career of Tecca began to gain momentum with his breakout hit single
"Ransom" The track was released on Cole Bennett's Lyrical Lemonade
YouTube channel on May 22, 2019. The track reached number 4 on the Billboard
Hot 100 chart and has received over 900 million plays on Spotify and more than
300 million views on YouTube.
