Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was created in Miami, Florida
on the 30th of November 1977. American electro-house musician, record producer,
D.J. Music executive. He is the third of Chizuru and Rocky Aoki's children. His
father was a former wrestler who also helped develop the chain of restaurants
Benihana. He has two older siblings who are sisters Kana who is commonly called
Grace as her middle name Grace, as well as brother Kevin (owner of Doraku
Sushi). Half-sister Devon Aoki is a model and actress. He grew up in Newport Beach
and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with the class of 1995 with a
B.A. in badminton. He then attended UC Santa Barbara, graduating w/ 2 B.A. He
also earned two bachelor's degrees, one in feminist studies, and the other in
Sociology. He was a student at the college who created records by himself and
held underground concerts in his Biko space in the Santa Barbara Student
Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch was born as a venue for concerts. He also
was involved in student activism during his time at UCSB. He founded an
organization called the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League Chapter on
campus. In his early 20s, he was establishing his own label, which he called
Dim Mak. The name is a reference for his hero from his childhood, Bruce Lee. The
band released I'm in the House in March 2010 as a collaboration with the Zuper
Blahq, the alter-ego of will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas. The song was ranked
the top spot at No. 29 on the U.K. Singles Chart in the very first week of its
release. It later entered the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart,
placing in the top 5 on both charts. The song was featured on an episode of
MTV's Jersey Shore as well as in the feature film Piranha & the trailer for
Think Like A Man. HitQuarters interview in May 2010 with Lucas Secon revealed
that Rivers Cuomo and he had just joined forces on a single. The song was named
the top-grossing North American dance artist by Pollstar in 2012. His
collaborations with artists include Afrojack, LMFAO and Linkin Park, Will.i.am.
Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS, Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini
Vici & Fall Out Boy. He is known for remixing artists such as Kid Cudi.
